CHENNAI: Ravi Dixit and Mahesh Mangaonkar won the Under-15 and 13 titles respectively in the Scottish junior open squash at the Heriot-Watt University Squash Centre, Edinburgh. According to information reaching here, the 14-year-old national champion Ravi, playing in his first European tournament, defeated Malaysia's Kah Wah Cheong in five games. The Indian appeared set for a straight game finish after hitting tight lengths and picking up the drops well. But as it happened, serving twice for the match in the third game at 8-6, Ravi slipped, allowing the Malaysian some breathing space. Wah did well to grab the next game too to queer the pitch. But Ravi, who had shifted base from Dhampur to the ICL Academy in Chennai a year ago, showed the virtues of hard training by keeping focus and wining the crucial final game for his maiden international success. Thereafter, top seeded Mahesh, taking a lesson from Ravi's success, scripted a win over the sprightly American Dylan Murray. Murray forced Mahesh in unforced errors, but playing a fast game the Indian could make amends. However the success story did not extent to Saymya Karki, who lost to Egyptian Manat Allah in the girls' under-13 final. The results: Final: Boys: Under-15: Ravi Dixit (Ind) bt Kah Wah Cheong (Mal) 9-4, 9-4, 8-10, 5-9, 9-6; U-13: Mahesh Mangaonkar (Ind) bt Dylan Murray (U.S.A.) 9-7, 9-2, 5-9, 9-7. Girls': U-13: Manat Allah Naser (Egy) bt Saumya Karki (Ind) 9-0, 9-4, 9-0.
