PANAJI: In its ruling over the conflict between the taxi operators and tour operators, the Goa Bench of Bombay High Court has, inter alia, ruled that it was the responsibility of the State to see that the law and order was maintained, and to ensure that the tourists who visit Goa were not put to undue harassment and exploitation by tour operators or taxi operators. The court order has come as a breather to the tourists, particularly the high-end tourists staying at beach and star hotels, who had often been the victims of the tussle between the two factions fighting over sharing of the tourist business. The court also directed the State Government to resolve the issue amicably.
