PIOUS GATHERING: Muslims offering Bakrid prayers in Hubli on Monday.
HUBLI: Id-ul-Zuha or Bakrid, the second most important festival of Muslims across the world, was celebrated with religious fervour across the district here on Monday. Muslims offered prayers at the Idgah Maidans across the district and then exchanged greetings later. The Idgah Maidans saw large gatherings where namaz was offered. In Hubli, a mass prayer was conducted at the two Idgah maidans. In Dharwad, a mass prayer was held at the Idgah maidan situated near the sub jail. Id-ul-Zuha, celebrates the ordeal of Hazrat Ibrahim, who had been put to test by the Almighty. It comes two months after Id-ul-Fitr, the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan. Several political leaders were present during the mass prayers. Muslim leaders also visited the Moorusavir Math and where they were greeted and blessed by Sri Gurusiddhar Rajayogindra Swamiji, seer of the math. Former ministers Jabbarkhan Honnalli and A.M. Hindasageri accompanied by their supporters visited the math and sought the blessings of the seer. Police had made elaborate security arrangements in the twin cities, especially in Hubli.
