Staff Reporter

  • Three best drivers from Guntur, Krishna and West Godavari districts to be honoured
  • Driver and conductor to take oath before taking the bus out of the depot

GUNTUR : Andhra Pradesh State Transport Corporation (APSRTC) proposes to celebrate its platinum jubilee year as an accident-free year and rededicate itself to qualitative service to the passengers, Guntur regional manager G. Jaya Rao said.

Formally launching the Safety Awareness Week here on Monday, he administered an oath on all drivers and conductors to go on duty with a renewed determination to keep the safety of the passengers and passers-by in mind.

The RTC handpicked 40 drivers and conductors from the Vijayawada Zone who had no record of getting involved in any accident or damage of the bus for the past three years to show them as model employees to infuse a sense of safety among others.

    Clean sheet

Out of the 2,400 drivers in Guntur Region 1,400 were found to be with such clean records and of them those 40 were selected.

Three best drivers selected from three districts Guntur, Krishna and West Godavari in Vijayawada Zone - K. David (Guntur-II), Sd. Alla Bakshu (Tenali) and Sk. Jani (Guntur-I) also turned out to be from Guntur Region only, said Mr. Jaya Rao.

These three would be honoured with cash prizes and recognition certificates at Hyderabad on January 4.

    Counselling

The RTC would conduct counselling classes at the depot level, skills imparting in avoiding accident, and ask each driver and conductor to take an oath before taking out the bus from the depot.

They would also take out a procession from Teresa Statue in Lakshmipuram to RTC Bus stand on January 6 with 500 employees holding placards, he said.
