VIJAYAWADA : The bonhomie and unbridled enthusiasm was vivid among Andhra cricketers, as they celebrated the New Year on Monday by cutting a cake at the Indira Gandhi Stadium.

Krishna District Cricket Association secretary Koka Ramesh and officer-bearers Yella Rao and Bapuji made arrangements for the celebrations. Keen to exhibit the team spirit prevailing among them, the cricketers cut the cake together among cheers of "Happy New Year". Medium pacer K.S Shahabuddin, the tallest among the players, added a dash of entertainment by smearing the face of diminutive opener L. N. Prasad Reddy with the cream. "Andhra is playing at Vijayawada after a gap of three years. We wanted to wish them a happy New Year ," said Mr. Ramesh. "We seek the blessing of Goddess Kanakadurga for more success," said Andhra coach N. Madhukar.
