KURNOOL: The Jain community in the city celebrated the `coronation' of a 23-year-old woman as monk here on Sunday by taking out a colourful procession. Pinki Kumari, daughter of Ramanlal, pledged before her community to dedicate herself to the service of god and mankind. She was taken in a procession in the streets of the city and the Jain Sangh hosted a feast for the community on the occasion. Pinki Kumari will be formally anointed at Shankareswar Tirtha on January 25. Pinki Kumari is the fifth person and third woman to become a monk in Kurnool city in the last two decades. The Jain community in the city comprises 180 households and around 1200 persons.
