Corrections and Clarifications

* *The name of the former Jammu and Kashmir Governor K.V. Krishna Rao was given as K.V. Krishnaswamy in the caption of the accompanying photograph in a report "People craving for peace and harmony, says ex-CBI Director" (Andhra Pradesh, January 1, 2007, page 4). It was right in the text.

* *It is the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, and not the National Commission Disputes Redressal Commission, as stated in "Commission sittings" ("Briefly", Chennai city, January 1, 2007, page 4).

* *It is "a helicopter"! The caption of the accompanying photograph in a report "Call to link the Nilgiris by air" (January 1, 2007) was: "An helicopter taking off from a helipad in Udhagamandalam. The facility has fallen into disuse."

* *In a report "Margadarsi challenges [Andhra Pradesh Protection of Depositors of Financial Establisments] Act" (December 30, 2006), a sentence was: "They contended that the GOs appointing N. Rangachary and IPS officer Krishna Raju, to look into the affairs of Margadarsi Financiers had foundation in this Act." It should have been ""They contended that the GOs ... to look into the affairs of Margadarsi Financiers had no foundation in this Act."

* *A report "Discovery of skeletons of children sends shock waves" (December 30, 2006) — on the recent incident in Sector-31, Noida — stated that the skeletons were highly decomposed, leading to queries. The soft parts of an organism decompose the fastest. Bones (and shells) decompose much more slowly. A skeleton itself may not be not permanent as acids, especially in soil, can reduce it to unrecognisable components.
