KOZHIKODE: Krishnan Sasikiran, who has touched the significant Elo mark of 2700, jumped 10 places to No.21 in the latest ratings list released by FIDE, the World chess governing body, while Viswanathan Anand has retained his No.2 spot. Anand, with 2779 points, is just four points behind No.1 Veselin Topalov (2783) of Bulgaria. Russia's Vladimir Kramnik (2766) continues to be the World No.3. P. Harikrishna is the third Indian in the top 50, ranked 33rd with 2673 points. Koneru Humpy is still the World No.2 among women with 2567 points, behind Hungary's Judit Polgar (2727). Two other Indians are in the top 50 S. Vijalakshmi (2459) at No.23 and Dronavalli Harika (2421) at No.43. Humpy also heads the World junior girls' list in which Harika is eighth and Eesha Karvade (2361) 12th. As a country, based on the average ratings of the top 10 players, India (2595) is ranked 13th.
