BIJAPUR: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Govind Karjol said here on Monday that work on the ambitious project to fill the tanks would be launched on January 16. Mr. Karjol told presspersons that Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister, B.S. Yediyurappa would take part in the foundation-stone laying ceremony, the venue of which was yet to be decided. The Rs. 202-crore project comprising eight sub-packages, aims at filling 97 minor irrigation tanks in the district by pumping water from the Krishna and the Bhima. Most of the tanks did not fill up in recent years because of inadequate rainfall.
