KOZHIKODE: Malabar Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union has decided to return to milk producers the amount of money they lost because of reduction in procurement price of milk in July and August. The milk procurement price was cut by 50 paise in July and August this year by the union since milk production was surplus during this period. The decision to return the money that the milk producers lost because of the reduction in procurement price during these months was announced on Monday by managing director of the union Dr. D Jayachandran. The amount would be returned along with the price of milk that was procured from milk societies between December 21 to 31. An amount of Rs.114 lakh would be paid by the Malabar Regional Milk Producers Union on this account. It would benefit nearly 82,000 milk producers who supply milk to 800 cooperatives. Milk producers in the district have been advised to collect the amount from their society.
