HYDERABAD: Communist Party of India (Marxist) State committee has demanded that the Government announce a suitable compensation for the oustees of Mid-Manair project in Karimnagar before commencing work on it. In a letter to Chief MinisterY.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, CPI (M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu lamented that the compensation package announced by the Government was unscientific and would not help the affected. Since there was no registration of lands in the area since 1993 the Government should not acquire lands on the basis of registration rates. Eleven villages would be fully submerged and seven partially, affecting 35,000 people. The package announced by the Government had, however, not made a mention of rehabilitation of youth, artisans and other sections whose livelihood would be affected.
