BERHAMPUR: A special film festival for the physically disabled marked welcoming of the New Year at Parlakhemundi in Gajapati district on Sunday night. Physically disabled persons from Parlakhemundi as well as members of 72 Self-Help Groups (SHG) for the physically disabled from parts of Gajapati district were part of the audience of this film festival along with the general public.
Blockbusters
The two-day film festival was held on December 30 and 31. Centre for Community Development (CCD), which has organised special film festival, had chosen commercial movies, which depict the theme of physically handicapped persons fighting it out to win life's struggle. Movies screened at the festival include blockbusters like Black, Dosti, Nache Mayuri and Iqbal. The only documentary on physical handicapped shown at the festival was `Inner Vision', a film from Nepal. Secretary of the CCD A Jagannath Raju said they had organised the festival to give a chance to physically handicapped persons to welcome the New Year with an entertaining experience .
