All set for Mukteswar festival

Festival being organised as part of Ekamra Utsav

BHUBANESWAR: With the marvellous arch of the Mukteswar temple as its backdrop, the second annual Mukteswar dance festival will be underway in the city from January 14 to 17. The sprawling green lawns in between the Mukteswar and Parsurameswar temple complexes will host the four-day event.

The festival is being organised by the tourism department as part of the Ekamra Utsav that aims at promoting Bhubaneswar as a major destination for cultural tourism. "We are inviting the best of Odissi dancers from all over the country ," informed an official of the department.

Schedule

The inaugural evening will have solo performance by noted danseuse Aruna Mohanty followed by duet by Sutapa Talukdar of Kolkata and group show by Padma Shri Madhvi Mudgal's troupe from New Delhi.

The second evening will showcase soloist Kavita Dwibedi from New Delhi, duet dance by Kasturi Patnaik of New Delhi-based Sankalp and group presentation by Sharmila Biswas and her troupe from Kolkata. Similarly, the third evening of the event will have solo dance by Kuala Lumpur- based Leena Mohanty followed by duet by Ramani Ranjan Jena from New Delhi and group show by Kolkata-based Aloka Kanungo and her troupe. The concluding evening will showcase soloist Padma Shri Kumkum Mohanty, duet by Ranjana Gauhar from New Delhi and group show by the artistes of late Kelucharan Mohapatra's Srjan instituton led by Ratikanta Mohapatra.
