"Drama can spread socially relevant messages"

CHENNAI: Socially relevant messages can be spread through drama, MDMK general secretary Vaiko said on Monday.

Noting that the form had a long history in the State, Mr. Vaiko said the services of artistes of yesteryear such as N.S. Krishnan, S.V.Sahasranamam and the T.K.S brothers were noteworthy.

He was participating in a function organised by "Natakhapriya," a drama troupe, to mark its 5007th performance on stage. He honoured members of the 33-year-old troupe.

`Cho' S. Ramaswamy, Editor, Thuglak, commended S.Ve. Shekher, the troupe leader and MLA of the AIADMK. R. Krishnaswamy, president, Federation of City Sabhas, spoke.
