Spoken English course

CHENNAI: The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, T. Nagar will conduct its ninth batch of spoken English course, for two months — basic and intermediate and advanced levels for three months as well as business English. Alumni Ruby Reunion

Free yoga course

Science forum inaugurated

The Department of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology, D.G. Vaishnav College, Chennai, inaugurated a `Science Forum,' followed by a lecture by the chief guest, Usman Ali.

Crafts mela

Ashirad of Orissa is conducting a crafts mela, an exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts and handlooms from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kashmir, Punjab, West Bengal and Orissa.

The exhibition begins on Tuesday and will be on till January 7 at the Vijaya Raja Thirumana Mandapam, 58, I Avenue Road, Shastri Nagar, Adyar.

Demo against VAT

About 150 people belonging to the Tamil Nadu Vaanigar Sangangalin Peravai staged a demonstration on Kamaraj Salai on Monday night in protest against the implementation of Value Added Tax (VAT)

in the State.

Led by Peravai president T. Vellayan, the members raised slogans against the demerits of VAT and demanded its withdrawal.

Police had made adequate bandobast arrangements. After about 30 minutes, the agitators dispersed, the police added.
