HYDERABAD: State BJP president B. Dattatreya and other leaders on Monday distributed sewing machines and clothes to the poor in Musheerabad constituency here that was earlier represented by party general secretary K. Laxman.

Accompanied by Dr. Laxman, the former Union Minister and leaders went round several slums and later moved to Chandranagar in Himayatnagar constituency, where they did "shramdan" holding crowbars and shovels.

They were joined by legislator G. Kishan Reddy.

The leaders then had lunch with the poor in one of the biggest slums in the city after going round a medical camp that was organised to examine the health of the residents.

Addressing the slumdwellers, BJP leaders regretted that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy did not even give 50 yards of land to help the poor build houses.
