Panchayat to enforce building rules

KOCHI: Kerala Building Rules will be implemented strictly in the Thrikkakara panchayat in view of the Government issuing an order to follow the rules with effect from November 6, a release said. It said that despite the Government order , there were complaints that no-objection certificates were being issued. Following this, a team led by Senior Town Planner S. Ajayakumar inspected the panchayat office and took over applications for building permits for scrutiny. — Staff Reporter

PTA meeting

KOCHI: An emergency meeting of the Parent Teacher Association of Ernakulam Government Maharajas College will be held on January 3. The meeting will be held at the seminar hall at 2.30 p.m. Steps to renew academic activities on the campus will be discussed at the meeting. The college was indefinitely closed down following clashes between two groups of students. — Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Department of Statistics at the Cochin University of Science and Technology and the International Indian Statistical Association will jointly organise a conference on `statistics, probability and related areas' here from January 2 to 5. — Staff Reporter
