THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Alliance Francaise de Trivandrum is organising a cultural treat during the course of the current and coming months. It includes two exhibitions, a wine workshop, a meet-the-writer programme and a stage art programme. The first exhibition titled "AFP Photo Asia" will showcase the collective work of AFP photographers of South Asia. It will be held at the Alliance from January 12 to 27. It is divided into five categories news, sports, entertainment, politics and colours. It will provide a powerful though small window into the recent past of South Asia. The selection of award-winning pictures is made from the AFP's South Asia Service. The exhibition of sculptures, also being held in the Alliance from February 20 to March 2, is by a group of artists belonging to the first batch of post-graduate course of the Department of Sculpture of the Fine Arts College here. It will be inaugurated by the head of the department N.N.Rimson. Connoisseurs of wine can look forward to a workshop on the drink also to be held in the Alliance on January 13. It will be conducted by Bruno Monange who owns a small vineyard in Burgundy. where he produces 160 litres of wine a year. Here is one more reason to attend the programme the workshop will end with a wine tasting session the French way. Lovers of French writing can never ignore Marie Darrieussecq, the prolific and experimental young writer hailing from Bayonne in France. The programme is being organised in the Institute of English of the University of Kerala on February 5. A Pava Kathakali is another major programme being organised by the Alliance during this period. It will be held in the Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan on February 22. Directed by G.Venu with Ravi Gopalan Nair as the Artistic Director, it will feature the celebrated stories `Kalyanasougandhikam' and `Duryodhanavadhom.' "Un Samedi a la campagne" involves an eco-friendly trip to Kallar with a French touch. The French touch comes in the form of songs, quiz, picnic and games during the tour.
