NEW DELHI: Historic milestones were revisited and interpretation of history by artistes was explored at the 18th Safdar Hashmi Memorial function held here on Monday. The annual event to observe the death anniversary of theatre personality Safdar Hashmi brought together writers, poets, journalists, theatre personalities, artists and musicians. "Making History Our Own" was a peek into the events of 1857, 1947, and the period thereon. " The stress here is on looking at how this history shaped each of us as artistes at a personal level," said veteran photographer Ram Rahman. Tributes were paid to danseuse Chandralekha who passed away in Chennai a couple of days ago. Poetry reading, plays, musical recitals and instrumentals by various artistes marked the day-long celebrations.
