`India has rich talent in science'

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Indian scientists have made great strides in the fields of science and technology and the country has a big scientific pool that could transform it into a world power, Union Minister of State for Planning M.V. Rajasekharan has said.

He was speaking at a function organised to felicitate playback singer P.B. Srinivas, the former Director General of Police L. Revannasiddaiah, theatre personality Shani Mahadevappa and journalist K.G. Nagalakshmi Bai at the Kannada Patrika Kala Samskriti Vedike on the occasion of Suvarna Karnataka, here on Monday.

Mr. Rajasekharan said that 30 per cent of the scientists working in the National Aeronautical and Space Agency of the U.S. were Indians.

Quoting a statement made by Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal in Parliament some time ago, the Minister said that there were over one crore Indians who were considered to be the most talented in the world.
