Solidarity march

Demonstrations taken out jointly by students and teachers are rare on our campuses. That was perhaps why a rally organised by the students and teachers of PSMO College, Tirurangadi, expressing solidarity with the people of Iraq on Tuesday took the people by surprise.

People watched curiously as men and women of PSMO's orthodox campus marched through Tirurangadi town, shouting anti-American slogans. The march was the first such from that campus.

K. Alavikutty, head of Malayalam Department, inaugurated a public meeting that followed. A.P. Abdul Wahab, head of English Department, delivered the keynote address.

C. Mohammed Shamnas, college union chairman, welcomed the gathering. M. Jemshir, a student, proposed a vote of thanks.
