Madikeri: Minister for Science and Technology and Lotteries Ramachandra Gowda said here on Tuesday that if the lottery agents refuse to stick to a timetable and follow the directions, the Government will have to ban lottery business. The Minister told presspersons that the Government was thinking to stipulate a specific time for the sale of tickets and draw of results. It could be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a maximum of three draws a day. The prizes should be handed over between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The Minister said that agents selling lottery tickets belonging to other States too would have to adhere to the restrictions. His observations came in the wake of lottery-related disturbances at Channapatna on Monday. Mr. Ramachandra Gowda said that he had met Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil in this regard.
