VISAKHAPATNAM: Imported furniture seems to be the trend. The city already has got a couple of showrooms added to this, Raipur-based Ace Décor has started an exhibition-cum-sale of imported furniture at Prahalada Kalyana Mandapam from Monday. Furniture from Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, China and Italy are kept on display. Speaking to the presspersons, Lalit Patwa of Ace Décor informed that the exhibition has been organised to assess the taste and preferences of Vizagites. "This is only a curtain raiser. We intend to set up a showroom here," he said.
Wide range
The display includes a wide range of office and home furniture and in addition it also showcases a huge collection of Italian paintings and lampshades. Imported massage chairs and foot massage gadgets are also kept on display. The furniture is imported in pieces and assembled at their factory in Raipur. While the office furniture includes items like laminated tables, plush push-back chairs, file cabinets, partition boards and work stations, on the home front items like dining tables, sofas, dressing tables, beds and wardrobes are put on show. "The exhibits are only 10 per cent of our inventory. In the dining table category itself we have over 100 designs," said Mr. Patwa. Giving an overview of the pricing, he informed, "office tables range from Rs.3,000 to Rs.75,000, dinning tables range from Rs.10,000 to Rs.65,000 and sofas range from Rs.16,000 to Rs.1,20,000."
Offers
To the encourage buyers, the company offers Rs.5, 000 worth of furniture free for every purchase of Rs.10, 000. The furniture is basically made of materials like laminated particleboards, rubber boards, Malaysian teak and stainless steel.
Simple carvings
Some of the stainless steel items are given chrome and powder finish to match the leather upholstery. Commenting on the designs, Mr. Patwa said: "Delicate carvings are gone and the edges are in. The trend today is straight and smart finish with simple carvings sparingly used." The Italian lampshades, paintings and marble topped dinning tables put on exhibit are worth a see. The exhibition is on till January 20.
