Attack on reporter condemned

DHARWAD: Working journalists associations' in Hubli and Dharwad have condemned the attack on the reporter of a private Kannada news channel.

While the members of Dharwad Media Club held a protest meeting at the Varta Bhavan in Dharwad, members of Dharwad district unit of the Karnataka Union for Working Journalists, held a protest meeting in Hubli to condemn the incident.

In both the meetings it was decided to give 48 hours time to the police to arrest and take legal action against those involved in the incident and also press for compensation for the reporter who suffered injuries.

Memorandum

Members of Dharwad Media Club submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner M.S. Srikar urging for appropriate action. Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Narayan Nadamani said the Police arrested five persons in connection with the Monday's incident and have been remanded to judicial custody.
