NHRC sends notice

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sent notice to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, on reports of alleged sexual abuse and murder of children in Nithari village, Noida. Taking suo motu cognizance of reports appearing in electronic and the print media, the Commission said they point to gross violation of human rights of citizens, particularly children, because of certain acts of omissions by public servants, who did not take timely action. The NHRC noted that the number of skeletons and body parts recovered suggests that more than those registered as missing have been killed.
