As part of the National Road Safety Week, Community against Drunken Driving (CADD) is organising a three-day all-India poster exhibition in the Capital's Gallerie Romain Rolland at Alliance Francaise beginning this coming Thursday. To lend their support to the campaign against drunken driving, young artists from across the country have come out with thought-provoking posters that are thematic in nature. Based on the subjects "Drunken Driving: An International Crime", "Spread the Message: Don't Drink and Drive" and "Underage Driving: Today's Youth", young creative minds have expressed their ideas about the perils of consuming alcohol either before or while driving on roads. Expressing concern over the fact that Delhi has just experienced its worst spate of alcohol-related accidents since December last year, CADD's founder president Prince Singhal said: "What we need is a mass campaign that conditions the general public's mindset from that of indifference to caution towards this menace. These posters have an exceptional ability of reaching out to the people by creating a visual impact of how drunken driving is nothing short of a violent intentional crime." With over 100 awareness drives and around 200 well-known faces lending their support to it, the CADD movement that completes five years in 2007 has come a long way. The campaign aims to gain greater heights this year with its multi-pronged approach to reach out to various sections of society by spreading awareness about its message. -- Madhur Tankha
