BANGALORE: Christ College's Centre for Social Action (CSA), along with members of Teesri Duniya Theatre and of the "Theatre and Development" programme of Concordia University, Canada, recently organised a street play performance in the city on the themes "Human Rights", "Water" and "Suppression of Women". The project focused on youth, cultural diversity, and activism and education on human rights.
Collaboration
This "Kannada-Canada" international collaboration was conceived in order to take the best points from the different perspectives between the two cultures. The group had about 15 students from Canada and 15 students from Christ College performing for the street play. Christ College's Centre for Social Action provides college students exposure to concrete social issues through "Social Sensitisation Programmes, and direct involvement in development programmes.
Theatre team
The group also has a trained street theatre team called "Drishti The Vision", which performs street plays on social issues in the rural and urban areas.
