State Government announces restructuring, merger of some departments

Information portfolio clubbed with Tamil Development & Religious Endowments The Government also announced the transfer of a number of IAS officers.

CHENNAI : The Tamil Nadu Government on Tuesday announced restructuring of a few departments by way of merging them.

It has formed "Tourism and Culture department" in the place of the Information and Tourism Department. The portfolio of Information has been clubbed with Tamil Development and Religious Endowments to establish Tamil Development, Religious Endowments and Information Department. Till now, the subject of Culture was part of Tamil Development and Religious Endowments Department.

While V. Iraianbu, an officer of the Indian Administrative Service, is the Secretary for the Tourism and Culture department, D. Rajendran, another IAS officer, is the head of the Tamil Development, Religious Endowments and Information department.

The Prohibition and Excise will be part of the Home department, which will hereafter be called `Home, Prohibition and Excise.'

S. Malathi, IAS, Home Secretary, will function as Secretary of the Home, Prohibition and Excise Department.

Transfers

The Government also announced the transfer of a number of IAS officers.

R. Karpoorasundarapandian, who was the Secretary of Tamil Development and Religious Endowments, is Special Commissioner of Rehabilitation, in the place of P.W.C. Davidar, IAS, holding additional charge.

The services of S.K. Prabakar, Secretary, Prohibition and Excise Department, are placed at the disposal of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation for appointment as its Managing Director vice Santha Sheela Nair holding additional charge.

The services of K.A. Mathew, formerly Chairman, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, are placed at the disposal of the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. for appointment as its Chairman and Managing Director vice Mr. Rajendran. S. Vijayakumar, formerly Project Implementation Officer, Tsunami Project Implementation Unit, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, is transferred and posted as Director of Fisheries. He will also function as Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation, vice Mohan Verghese Chunkath.

Jagmohan Singh Raju, Special Secretary, Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department, is transferred and posted as Commissioner of Horticulture and Plantation Crops vice P. Sonai, on return from leave, is posted as Commissioner and Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services vice Hemant Kumar Sinha is transferred and posted as Commissioner of Social Defence vice Thiru Ashok Ranjan Mohanty. Rajendra Ratnoo, Additional Director of Rural Development, is transferred and posted as Collector, Cuddalore district vice Gagandeep Singh Bedi who is transferred and posted as Director of Rural Development vice Dr. J. Radhakrishnan who is transferred and posted as Additional Secretary, Finance Department. Chandra Prakash Singh, Secretary, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department, is transferred and posted as Transport Commissioner, vice R. Sivakumar who has been transferred and posted as Director of Technical Education vice R. Rajagopal, who is posted as Secretary, Environment and Forests department in the place of Vishwanath A. Shegaonkar who is transferred and posted as Secretary, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department. M.R. Mohan, Special Secretary, Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department, is transferred and posted as Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles vice M. Malik Feroze Khan.

A. Sukumaran, Chief Executive Officer, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, is transferred and posted as Commissioner of Labour vice V. Varaprasada Rao who has been transferred and posted as Commissioner of Land Reforms vice O.P. Sosamma holding additional charge. G. Ramamoorthy, formerly Chief Executive Officer, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, is posted as Joint Commissioner of Sugar. The services of Mohan Verghese Chunkath, Special Commissioner of Fisheries and Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation, are placed at the disposal of the Science City for appointment as its Vice-Chairman.

The services of M. Malik Feroze Khan, Director of Handlooms and Textiles, are placed at the disposal of the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board for appointment as its Executive Director. The services of M. Chandrasekaran, formerly Collector, Dharmapuri District, are placed at the disposal of the Corporation of Chennai for appointment as its Joint Commissioner (Revenue & Finance).
