KOLKATA: Last year's runner-up Kerala drubbed host Bengal 21-3 and then followed up with an equally authoritative 23-1 win over Tamil Nadu to strengthen its position on top of Group `B' in the 35th National handball championship for women at the St. Thomas Girls School here on Tuesday. Defending champion Railways defeated Chandigarh 22-6 to improve its position in Group `A.' J. Anita topscored for Railways with eight goals. The other fancied teams, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Manipur and Maharashtra among others too had it easy against their respective opponents. The results: Group `A': Chandigarh 17 bt Karnataka 12; Haryana 19 bt Jammu & Kashmir 6; Railways 22 bt Chandigarh 6; Karnataka 17 bt Uttaranchal 4. Group `B': Kerala 21 bt Bengal 3; Maharashtra 15 bt Tamil Nadu 0; Kerala 23 bt Tamil Nadu 1; Maharashtra 28 bt Himachal Pradesh 6.
