`Devotees throng temple at Uthirakosamangai

Sanctum sanctorum of the temple opened after a year



ANNUAL RITUAL: Abhishekam being performed on Natarajar.

RAMANATHAPURAM: Hundreds of devotees from various parts of the State visited Sri Mangalanathar Swamy Temple at Uthirakosamangai to witness `Arudra Darisanam.'

The `maragatha' Natarajar idol, kept closed for the last one year after applying sandal on it during the last year `Arudra Darisanam,' was opened for `darshan' on Tuesday.

Special pujas were performed to the Natarajar idol, after the sanctum sanctorum was opened after a year.

Amid chanting of mantras, `archakas' performed milk, sandal and other `abhishekams' to the idol.

The Collector, K.S. Muthuswaamy, among others, witnessed the special pujas on the occasion.
