BHUBANESWAR: As a prelude to the ensuing Ekamra Utsav, the 15-day fun and frolic in this capital city of heritage and modernity, the annual State-level flower show will be under way on the sprawling Regional Plant Resource Centre (RPCC) here on January 6 and 7. While he Utsav is being hosted by the State Tourism Department to promote the state capital as a major tourists' destination, the flower show is being mounted by the Plant Lovers Association (PLA) of Bhubaneswar in association with RPCC. ``Bhubaneswar is not only the city of temples but also a city of beautiful parks and gardens. RPRC, the best among them, holds a prominent place in the garden map of the country that a few people are aware of. It boasts of nearly 500 acres of plantations, landscaped gardens, tissue culture, rosary and a special nursery of cacti for which we have chosen it as the venue to organise the show,'' explained PLA secretary P.K. Mohapatra.
Best garden award
A plant bazaar will be set up on the venue during the two-day show that will include a painting competition on plants and flowers. Owner of the best garden in Bhubaneswar will also be awarded on the occasion, it was learnt. The show will be open for the public fro 10 am till 7 pm on both the dates, the hosts informed.
