Adoor Mar Thoma convention begins today

Abraham Mar Paulose to inaugurate the meet

PATHANAMTHITTA: The annual Mar Thoma Christian religious convention, organised by the Adoor diocese of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar, will begin at the Convention Nagar in Adoor on Wednesday.

The Metropolitan of the Kollam diocese of the Church, Abraham Mar Paulose, will inaugurate the convention at 6.30 p.m., according to Lal Cherian, diocese secretary. Joseph Mar Ireneus Saffragan Metropolitan will preside over the inaugural function.

George Samuel and M.C. Samuel will lead the renewal conferences to be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. P.K. Zacharia will deliver a religious discourse at 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

P.M. Johnson will deliver a discourse at 10 a.m. on Friday. A meeting of the Mar Thoma Sevika Sanghom workers will be held in the afternoon. Ms Sampath Varghese will address the meet.

Youhanon Mar Chrisostomos Metropolitan will address the meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Separate meetings of the Mar Thoma Yuvajna Sakhyam and the Mar Thoma Sunday School Samjam will be held in the afternoon. Bishop Sam Mathew of the Church of South India will address the convention at 6.30 p.m.

Joseph Mar Ireneus Saffragan Metropolitan will lead the holy Eucharist at the Convention venue at 7.30 a.m. on Sunday.

Valedictory meet

Bishop Sam Mathew will deliver the keynote address at the valedictory meet to be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

As many as 10,000 devouts attached to 120 parishes coming under the Punalur, Thalavur, Pathanapuram, Thevalakkara, Enathu, Kayamkulam, Kannamkode and Pandalam centres of the Church will attend the convention, Binu P.Rajan, organising committee convener, said.
