Government has reduced the casual leave to 12 days a year

PATNA: A new work culture has been put in place for the eight-lakh staff of the Bihar Government from Tuesday, first working day of the New Year.

It will now be a five-day working week, against the six-day week schedule.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was among the first to enter his office in the Secretariat complex seeking to set the tune for the 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. working day, with a half-hour lunch time, The earlier time was 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Like their Central Government counterparts, the State Government employees would enjoy a two-day weekly holiday.

However, the State Government has reduced the casual leave to 12 days from 16 days a year.

The first day did not seem to have gone well with the Government's commitment for toning up the administration. Most of the Ministers, officers and the other staff failed to turn up on time.

The railways rescheduled the timing of several local trains, following a request from the State Government.
