VISAKHAPATNAM: The City Task Force once again seems to strike it rich. Nine kg of gold ornaments, worth around Rs.90 lakhs, were seized by the CTF from two youths posing as traders at Dwarakanagar here on Tuesday. Lalaram Chaudhury and Arun Vyas of Rajasthan had brought the gold ornaments from Mumbai without any bills, reportedly to sell them at gold shops in the city. According to the police the duo was moving suspiciously near a reputed shopping mall in the area, when on a tipoff they were confronted. They were arrested when they failed to produce the purchase bills. The police said that the objective of the accused was to evade taxes. CTF inspector Mahesh said that both Lalaram and Arun had said that they had come to the city a couple of days ago to survey and collect orders from reputed jewellers. According to the police such incidents were on the rise, as tax evasion seemed to be the main motive. A couple of months ago the CTF arrested two youth from Hyderabad for the same offence near APSRTC complex. The accused would be produced in the court on Wednesday and the police were investigating the case.
