Woman, daughters found dead

KOCHI: A woman and her two daughters were found dead at their house at Katrikadavu, late on Tuesday evening. They were found hanging. Mary, 48, and her daughters, Gladis, 24, and Glintu, 20, a degree student, were found hanging in their house near the CBI office. The Police said that financial problems were suspected to be the reason for the three women taking their lives. A letter recovered from the spot reportedly says that none was to blame for the suicide. Mary's husband George is employed in a shop in Pachalam. An inquest will be conducted on Wednesday. - Staff Reporter

PCB directive

KOCHI: The State Pollution Control Board (PCB) on Tuesday directed public sector Hindustan Insecticides Limited to shut down operations within 72 hours, for unauthorised dumping of highly toxic effluents into the Kuzhikandam creek at Eloor. Meanwhile, the company management suspected foul play behind the move. The management plans to lodge a complaint against the allegations. - Staff Reporter

Passports issued

KOCHI: The Regional Passport Office, Kochi, has processed and issued passports on fresh applications got till November 11, where police verification is over.
