Autorickshaw driver killed

BANGALORE: An autorickshaw driver was bludgeoned to death in Banashankari police station limits in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police gave his name as Zameel (35), resident of Kengeri Satellite Town. Around 2 a.m. assailants killed him at Kaderanahalli Park in 2nd Stage, Banashankari, by smashing his head with a boulder. Preliminary investigations revealed that two men had murdered Zameel over an alleged affair, police said.

Arrested

The Rajarajeshwarinagar police have arrested four persons on charges of chain snatching and recovered from them gold ornaments and a motorcycle, together estimated at Rs. 1.65 lakh.

The police said the arrested were involved in six cases of chain snatching reported from Jnana Bharathi, Rajarajeshwarinagar and Basaveshwaranagar police station limits. Those arrested are Sreenivas alias Hanuma (20), Mahadeva (19), Anil Kumar (18) and Satish (18).

Recovered

The Kamakshipalya police have arrested a student on charges of vehicle theft and recovered from him five two-wheelers, together estimated at Rs. 2.5 lakh.

The police gave his name as Kiran Raj (18), a resident of 6th Block, Rajajinagar, and a first year student of Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications. He had reportedly stolen the vehicles from Vijayanagar, Basaveshwaranagar and Kamakshipalya, the police said.

In another case, the J.J. Nagar police arrested Syed Ameed on charges of vehicle theft and recovered from him two motorcycles he had allegedly stolen from Vijayanagar and Tilaknagar police station limits.

The J.J. Nagar police, in another case, arrested Chand Pasha and Syed Sikandar on charges of theft and recovered from them seven mobile phones and gas cylinders.
