Intermediate programme in Mandarin Chinese

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Language Labs is launching an intermediate programme in Mandarin Chinese, scheduled to begin on January 6. This follows the completion of a basic-level programme last year.

The 75-hour weekend program in Mandarin Chinese will consist of a 10-hour bridge course and a 65-hour study covering spoken and written elements of the language, also integrating cultural and corporate etiquette patterns through interactive discussions.

The content and structure of the programme will be keeping with the requirements of the "HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) Basic" examination and will combine both business-oriented and real-time situational language training.

The programme is open to anyone who has basic knowledge of Mandarin Chinese and who would like to pursue the language further. A new Basic Level Program for beginners is also scheduled to commence by the month-end. The course will be conducted by P.N.G. Subramanian, Former Consul-General of India in Shanghai, and D.S. Rajan, former Director in the Cabinet Secretariat.
