CHITTOOR: An interaction with HIV-affected women, jointly organised by the Police Department and Parallel Network of Positive People Organisation, Tirupati, was held here on Wednesday. Talking to media persons after the meeting, Superintendent of Police Charusinha said that 50 HIV-affected women from the surrounding mandals of Chittoor, who participated in the meeting, openly admitted that they were HIV positive and came out with their problems. Such meetings would be held at Palamaner, Madanapalle and Srikalahasti so as to give moral support to HIV positive persons and motivate them to take treatment and live like others in society without any fear.
Solution to problems
He said their problems would be solved legally. Regarding their problems related to revenue and health, the officials concerned would be asked to redress them. He said some HIV positive women revealed that earlier they faced domestic violence and segregation from villagers. But after joining the Parallel Network of Positive People Organisation, they felt free from all these worries. Now they were going door-to-door in the villages and mingling with other women. While disclosing their own experiences as HIV patients, they were eliciting from others their sufferings and asking them to take treatment in hospitals. Muneeswari, president of the organisation, said the Parallel Network of Positive People Organisation instilled confidence in patients that they could live in society like anybody else without any fear or stigma.
