PATHANAMTHITTA: The Revenue District Schools Youth Festival began at Republican Vocational Higher Secondary School in Konni on Wednesday. As many as 3,000 students from schools in the 11 educational sub-districts are participating in the arts and dance contests in about 200 events as part of the three-day festival. The contests will be held at eight venues at Republican VHSS, Viswabharati Auditorium, Y's Men's Hall and Government Higher Secondary School. School manager M.K. Narendranth hoisted the festival flag in the morning. A cultural procession was held from the Eliyarackal junction to Republican School prior to the inaugural function. Minister for Transport and Registration Mathew T.Thomas inaugurated the festival and local MLA Adoor Prakash presided. Chengara Surendran, MP, delivered the keynote address and Deputy Director of Education S.T. Bhadran spoke.
The festival will conclude on Friday. Mr Chengara Surendran will inaugurate the valedictory function.
