Inter-State criminal gang busted

Four persons involved in thefts, illegal transportation of goods


  • Kingpin was involved in 15 cases
  • Two more accused are at large

    NIZAMABAD: The district police busted an inter-State gang by arresting four persons who were involved in thefts, illegal transportation of goods by hoodwinking the transporters and other offences.

    Giving details of the case at a press conference here on Wednesday, Additional Superintendent of Police P.V. Srinivas Rao said the gang transported 10 tonnes of blackgram from Bichkunda and 17.5 tonnes of paddy from Rudrur by showing fake RC and driving licence in the month of October last.

    Instead of delivering the goods to the consignees at Hyderabad the gang members distributed the blackgram and paddy among themselves. On complaint lodged by Madnoor-based Sai Transport Office, the police swung into action and busted the gang.

    Criminal dossier

    The kingpin of the gang Allam Malla Reddy alias Marreddy of Yelkaturthy mandal in Karimnagar district is a dossier criminal and has been involved in over 15 cases in different districts. The other

    members Basani Anand Reddy and Peta Balakrishna of Khammam and Rangareddy districts are also habitual criminals.

    The Additional SP said two more accused Thumma Raja Reddy and Chinna Raja Reddy are on the run. However, Ms. Vanegala Madhavi of Sumangali Colour Lab in Kukatpally was taken into custody for allegedly helping the accused with fake RC and driving licence.

    The modus operandi of the gang is that it approaches transport offices to enquire whether any consignments for transportation. To transport the goods, Malla Reddy (accused number one) purchased a lorry from one Khaja Pasha of Warangal recently by advancing a sum of Rs.20,000.

    The Additional SP said the police recovered the truck, colour lab equipment, some amount of blackgram and paddy.

    He complimented Yellareddy Circle Inspector Ch. Lakshmi Narayana, Nizamabad CI N. Lakshmi Narayana and Bichkunda and Madnoor Sub-Inspectors P. Venkateswarlu and Peddannakumar for arresting the gang members.
