Kozhikode: Assembly Speaker K. Radhakrishnan has said that several Centrally sponsored schemes envisaged for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were unsuccessful in the State as the agencies attached to the Centre failed to take cognisance of the socio-economic realities here. He was inaugurating a workshop organised by the Women's Development Corporation (WDC) at the Indian Medical Association Hall here on Wednesday. Most of the Central schemes were drawn up considering the ground realities of North Indian States. So, Kerala did not get suitable schemes. The Adivasis and marginalised sections do not get the benefits due to them, Mr. Radhakrishnan said. WDC chairperson N.K. Radha presided. The former MP Premajam and WDC director S. Krishnakumari led the sessions at the workshop.
