"Damage to parapet a deliberate act"

TIRUCHI: The damage caused to the parapet of the Mullaperiyar dam appeared to be a deliberate act, State president of the BJP L. Ganesan said here on Wednesday. The responsibility of ensuring the security of the structure should not be vested with Kerala police alone, he said.

"I raised the issue at the all-party meeting convened by the Government and suggested that the two States make joint security arrangements. Our stand has been vindicated now," Mr. Ganesan told a press conference.

The Kerala Government has lost its credibility and Tamil Nadu should take up the issue (of raising the water level of the dam) with the Supreme Court and press for the implementation of its verdict. — Special Correspondent
