Ayyappa temple to be set up

Rajahmundry: Goutama Ghat is going to have another spiritual centre by April this year. Sri Dharma Sasta Spiritual Centre is constructing magnificent Ayyappa Swami temple on the Ghat, for which more than 80 per cent of the construction work has been completed. Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, the Minister for Roads and Buildings, J. Rammohana Rao said that the preparation of main idol with five `lohas' (metal) will be taken up on February 7 and the idol will weigh up to 125 kgs. The idol is going to be a replica of the idol, which is in Sabarimala, and they are using 65 per cent copper, 5 per cent silver, 25 per cent brass, 2 kg gold and other metals.

The Minister said that the gold used to cover the idol would be collected from devotees. He said that the temple would also have a big kitchen, boarding facility for Ayyappa Swamis.
