KOTTAYAM: The Nair Service Society (NSS) has accused the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan of communalising the issue of alleged corruption in the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB). In a statement at Perunna on Wednesday, NSS general secretary P.K. Narayana Panicker said the issue of corruption in the TDB was one concerning the entire Hindu community and society as a whole. As such anyone could demand a lasting solution to its incidence and no one could deny such a demand, Mr. Panicker said. He pointed out that it was the responsibility of the TDB authorities to convince others that they were clean. Anyone trying to communalise the issue was only trying to create a divide in the Hindu community and the NSS would not be party to it, he said. Mr. Natesan was crossing the limits when he dubbed the NSS as an organisation without any followers, he said. ``We have sympathy for those who, while holding august positions, issue such statements which show oneself in a poor light,'' Mr. Panicker said. Mr. Panicker said the personal accusations raised by Mr. Natesan against him were contrary to truth and aimed at misleading the public. Two of his relatives were employed at the Gurvayur Devaswom Board and both had joined the service through legitimate and established ways. He also pointed out that he was not a member of the Guruvayur Devaswom Board when corruption charges were raised against the body.
