Lokayukta police trap inspector

He was caught allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000

BELGAUM: Lokayukta police have trapped a circle police inspector of Athani and a constable while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Lokayukta Superintendent of Police M.B. Bisanalli, the accused had demanded Rs. 1 lakh from Annasaheb B. Mirji.

The police officer was harassing the complainant following an anonymous call that Mirji was exploiting young girls under the guise of keeping them as sales girls in his Super Bazaar in Vikrampur village of Athani taluk. The accused reportedly told the inspector that he could give the amount in instalments.

However, Mirji approached the Lokayukta and lodged a complaint against them B.L. Lamani, who allegedly took money on behalf of the inspector. A case has been registered against both them.
