HASSAN: The resignation of Wakf Minister Zameer Ahmed will have no effect on the functioning of the Kumaraswamy-led Government, Public Works and Energy Minister H.D. Revanna has said.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Revanna said it was the prerogative of the Chief Minister to appoint a Minister or accept his resignation.

On the statement of KPCC president Mallikarjun Kharge that the first wicket of Janata Dal (Secular) had fallen on the New Year's Day and that the Government would soon collapse, Mr. Revanna said the Congress was daydreaming and that the Government was intact. Such incidents occurred in other political parties also, he said.

Muslims were not unhappy with the Kumaraswamy-led Government over Mr. Ahmed's resignation, as they were aware of the development works taken up by Government for the welfare of the community.

Mr. Revanna said there was nothing wrong in MLAs going to resorts and discussing welfare measures. The BJP conducted "Chintan baithak" and so also the Congress that held discussions in Kashmir and Dehradun.

Elections

Mr. Revanna said he too would go to resort (in Pune) and participate in the proceedings. There would be discussion on the ensuing civic elections. On the urban local body elections, he said the Election Commission would fix the date according to the direction of the court. On poll alliance with the BJP, Mr. Revanna said it was left to local leadership.
