Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
About 6,000 members of the Andhra Pradesh Regional Rural Bank Employees' Association in all five regional rural banks will go on strike on January 5. Their strike will affect the functioning of 1,200 branches.
Employees and officers will hold demonstrations at offices in all districts seeking implementation of banking pension settlement of 1993, parity in allowances/benefits, continuing compassionate appointments and recruitment/promotions. According to S. Venkateswar Reddy, general secretary, the strike is being organised in response to a call by the Joint Forum of Grameen Banks Unions.
Conference
Meanwhile, the city will host the seventh all-India conference of the Bank Employees' Federation of India (BEFI) from January 7 to 10. More than 1,000 members from various banks and financial institutions are expected to take part.
