HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has demanded an apology from All India Congress Committee general secretary Digvijay Singh for the his observation that the time is ripe for the constitution of the second States Reorganisation Commission (SRC). Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Rao also wanted Mr. Singh, who will participate in Thursday's brainstorming session of the APCC here, to withdraw the statement. Otherwise, the TRS would intensify its agitation, he said. He said Mr. Singh had insulted the people of Telangana with comments that there was no consensus among political parties on the demand for separate Telangana. In fact, the TRS had disproved the claim in a booklet published before the recent Karimnagar parliamentary by-election. It contained letters of support from various political parties as also facts highlighting how a consensus on the separate State had indeed emerged at the national level. Mr. Rao said the second SRC was not agreeable to the people of Telangana as it amounted to dumping the issue.
