Develop life skills, students told

The Department of Management Studies of Thanthai Hans Roever College in Perambalur, organised a seminar on `Personality development' recently.

The Director of Studies, Fulfam and Chelsea College, London, A. Xavier Amaladoss, who was the resourceperson, insisted that students should develop life skills to compete with their foreign counterparts. He also stressed upon the importance of internship for undergraduate students before they took up higher studies. Mr. Amaladoss answered questions and reassured the students that they are capable of competing with others on an international platform. Principal R. Valluvan, director N. Durairaj and Head of Department of Management Studies N.S. Shibu spoke.

The Department of Social Work also organised a `Stress management programme' for police personnel.

The Superintendent of Police, Prem Anand Sinha, presided. Harsha Vardan, psychiatrist from Sowmnaysa Hospital, Tiruchi, delivered the keynote address. The Head of Department of Social Work, P. Azhagesan, explained the objective of the programme.

J.J. College of Education in Pudukkottai organised a lecture on `An introduction of ICT and educational technology.'

R. Charles William, Senior Lecturer, Government College of Education, Pudukkottai, said that by using innovative techniques in educational technology, one could expand the activities such as teaching, training and living. He also told the students to focus on research.

The Human Resources Development Centre of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Arts and Science for Women in Perambalur, organised a personality development programme on `Developing positive thinking' for final year undergraduate and graduate students.

Swamini Sthirananda Saraswathi, lecturer in Vedic philosophy from Chennai, was the resourceperson.
