Governor accepts Minister's resignation

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Governor T.N. Chaturvedi has accepted the resignation of Minister for Wakf and Haj Committee Zameer Ahmed on the recommendation of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Mr. Zameer Ahmed, who quit the Ministry in a huff on what he termed as the Chief Minister's non-participation in the Bakrid prayer meeting at Chamarajpet here on Monday, had submitted his resignation to the Governor and sent across a copy of it to the Chief Minister. Mr. Kumaraswamy, thereafter, sent across the letter with his recommendation to the Governor as required under the given procedure.

Mr. Chaturvedi on Wednesday accepted the resignation and has since notified it. It was now for the Chief Minister to either retain the portfolio of Wakf and Haj Committee or allocate it to another member of the Council of Ministers.
